Welcome to the first of what I hope to be a monthly newsletter and blog post. The intention of these posts is to connect on a more meaningful level, share our successes/failures, and generally just be transparent in our life story and decisions. So here it goes! Enjoy some of my thoughts on a natural life and feel free to email back your story or where you stand in this journey! I sure hope to God I am not the only one that tends to ramble on…

I've often thought about living a natural, as-God-intended life as I am sure many of you have as well. Oftentimes there is an event or a series of events that lead to the decision to live a little differently, or perhaps consume what we would normally consume a little differently (whether in terms of food, media, or personal care).

Over the course of the past decade, I have taken a deep dive into my personal preferences and what I offer my family in order to care for them. Without quite understanding why, something about generations of the past fascinates me. Let me take you back to my grandparent’s small kitchen in their little Greek village.

Though I was young, I distinctly remember a kitchen with a small stove, a sink, a refrigerator, a small dining table, and…a bed. Yes they slept in the kitchen. Right next to the kitchen was a small bathroom, and the back storage room where they kept their seasonal goods from homemade wine, to canned tomatoes (probably not canned with attention to any safety protocols), and strands of braided garlic. Despite bringing their family to America, forming four children into incredible examples of hard work, they went back. Back to the village. Tending a small garden, a flock of chickens, and a two-generations old olive grove.

Why do I bring this up? Because my grandparents lived well into their 90’s. More important than their lifestyle or their diet was their deep sense of being content with a little.

The natural life and how we live it is more than scrutinizing every ingredient, more than being purists in our ideologies and preferences; it is about finding the beauty in simplicity and realizing that that is enough to truly sustain us. Everything in excess of that is not only unnecessary, but potentially harmful whether on a spiritual level or physical. Above all, the natural life is a journey, a very personal yet beautiful and meaningful journey that is interconnected with that of everyone around us.

Thank you for tagging along as we map out our natural life journey through our little farm and quest for natural skincare!
